Recycled Timber Can Be More Affordable
The cost of wood is always going to be an important consideration, whether a person is looking to install wood flooring in a residence, or a company is looking to create a customised wood bar for a coffee shop. As far as cost is concerned; recycled timber offers the advantage of lower prices. This will mean that a homeowner may be able to install wood flooring over a wider floor area, or a company can reduce the cost of furniture in a new store.
Recycled Timber Can Be Sturdier
While recycled timber can offer a cost advantage over other forms of wood, this doesn't mean that it is inferior in terms of strength or sturdiness. For the most part, recycled wood is just as strong as the wood that is newly created from chopped down trees. In fact, it's possible for the recycled wood to be of even higher quality that non-recycled wood. The key here is dryness. Wood needs to be dried out completely in order to eliminate moisture that might cause it to rot from within, or allow mould to grow. Now, when wood planks are first made from trees, the wood is exposed to heat in an attempt to dry it out thoroughly. However, there is usually still some leftover moisture, which could be a problem later on.
This is in marked contrast to recycled timber. This is wood that has already previously gone through the heat drying process when it was first prepared. But after that, the timber had many additional years to dry out naturally, thanks to exposure to the sun, air and heat. This drying, which takes place over time is something that cannot really be replicated in a factory, giving recycled timber superior freedom from moisture. This means that there's even less chance for rot or mould to form, making any resulting furniture or structure stronger.
